  • YOU ARE ADVISED TO MAINTAIN ADEQUATE INSURANCE COVER FOR YOUR PROPERTY WHILST IN OUR WORKSHOPS AS WELL AS AT YOUR HOME

Charges

Repairs are charged in accordance with our estimate - which is approximate - parts are charged extra and customers are advised to budget for this. The most likely parts may be indicated at the time of estimate although it is possible that others will be needed, but if major parts are needed we will notify you. It is quite possible that mainsprings will need replacing as they lose their strength over a long period.

Worn out mainsprings must be replaced and will be charged extra - it may be possible to quote a price for mainsprings on your clock if we haven’t already done so - please contact us if you require a price - most are reasonably in proportion with the type of clock and are worth the extra cost,  one-off springs can be expensive as they have to be made - but we will advise you of this. Your clock will have one mainspring for every function (or for every winding hole in the dial to make it easier). Long-case clocks generally do not have mainsprings although clocks made after 1900 can have mainsprings. We reserve the right to charge more than the estimated price so long as it is reasonably in proportion with the estimate.

Most estimates are based on our standard charging system which helps to eliminate spending time on dismantling clocks in order to give an estimate - hence we can give an estimate without charge, however if on dismantling a clock and on commencing repairs we discover undue problems not covered by our estimate we reserve the right to re-estimate before proceeding with the work. All customers are notified in writing when repairs are completed - our invoice is sent at this stage, prompt payment is always appreciated.

  • ESTIMATES AND TERMS MUST BE ACCEPTED IN WRITING OR BY EMAIL
  • A VERBAL ACCEPTANCE OF ESTIMATE WILL ALSO BE ACCEPTED AND TAKEN AS A CONTRACT TO COMPLETE WORK-WRITTEN ESTIMATES MUST BE RETURNED SIGNED AND DATED
  • WHEN YOU ACCEPT OUR ESTIMATE YOU ARE ALSO ACCEPTING AND AGREEING TO ABIDE BY OUR TERMS
  • OUR PAYMENT TERMS ARE STRICTLY NET 7 DAYS
  • PLEASE NOTIFY US IF YOU ARE GOING AWAY
  • WE MAY BE ALLOTTING VALUABLE TIME TO REPAIRING YOUR CLOCK AT THAT TIME AND WE WILL EXPECT TO BE PAID WITHIN 7 DAYS OF COMPLETION
  • ALL REPAIRS ARE GUARANTEED FOR 12 MONTHS

This guarantee does not cover accidental damage misuse or tampering. Please note our guarantee becomes invalid if the clock is handled by another repairer or is tampered with or handled incorrectly - if in doubt please ask.

  • SOME DIFFICULT REPAIRS CAN TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS - PLEASE BE PATIENT
  • PLEASE DO NOT CALL IN FOR A PROGRESS REPORT- WE CANNOT GIVE YOU ONE - THIS WASTES VALUABLE BENCH TIME
  • WE CANNOT USUALLY GUESS WHEN A JOB WILL BE READY AND IF WE DO WE WILL BE WRONG - SO PLEASE DO NOT PUSH US FOR A DATE
  • WE WILL NOT JUMP THE QUEUE FOR ANYBODY - ALL CUSTOMERS ARE TREATED EQUALLY REGARDLESS OF STATUS OR OTHERWISE
  • ALL CUSTOMERS ARE NOTIFIED WHEN REPAIRS ARE COMPLETE - THIS WILL TAKE THE FORM OF A FINAL INVOICE WHICH IS PAYABLE WITHIN 7 DAYS OF COMPLETION
  • IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING FROM US FOR A WHILE THEN YOUR REPAIR IS NOT LIKELY TO BE READY - PLEASE BE PATIENT
  • CLOCKMAKERS ARE IN SHORT SUPPLY - THOSE OF US THAT ARE LEFT ARE USUALLY FULLY BOOKED CONTINUOUSLY - BEWARE OF ANY "CLOCKMAKER" THAT HAS NO WORK AND CAN DO THE JOB STRAIGHT AWAY - WE OFTEN RECEIVE IN REPAIRS FROM CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE BEEN ELSEWHERE AND HAVEN'T BEEN REPAIRED PROPERLY - THIS WILL END UP COSTING YOU MORE MONEY
  • PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THAT MOST CLOCKS THAT COME IN FOR REPAIR HAVE BEEN RUNNING FOR COUNTLESS YEARS WITHOUT PROPER ATTENTION OR MAINTENANCE AND ARE IN A VERY POOR STATE - IT IS OFTEN QUITE AN ACHIEVEMENT TO GET THEM RUNNING AGAIN
  • CLOCKMAKERS ARE VERY RARE AND YOU ARE LUCKY TO HAVE US - SO PLEASE RESPECT US FOR WHAT WE DO
All items left with us unclaimed will be disposed of after 6 months. Unpaid invoices put ancient trades like us under threat of closure - invoices that are overdue will be charged at £20.00 extra per week not paid.

ALL UNPAID ACCOUNTS WILL BE RECOVERED THROUGH THE COUNTY COURT. All claims through court will be charged costs, interest plus the weekly overdue charge value.

THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS ARE NOT NEGOTIABLE
